In 2008, after many years as a traditional deer stalking estate, Dundreggan, a 10,000-acre expanse between Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye, was purchased by Trees for Life. This charity has since focussed on rewilding Dundreggan by restoring its share of the ancient Caledonian Forest to create the world’s first Rewilding Visitor Centre.
GreenCoat® PLX Pural Tile Red, was used as a durable and robust roofing material, and was selected for its ability to withstand the demands of the rural environment. Its modern take on the traditional red tin roofs commonly found on agricultural “but and ben” cottages in the Highlands blends seamlessly with the surroundings. What sets this roofing apart is its innovative coating, crafted using a unique bio-based technology derived from Swedish rapeseed oil.
Distributed by Metal Solutions Ltd, this roofing material not only promises quality but also embodies a step towards a greener, more sustainable future for construction and design. We are confident that the Centre will fulfill its primary role as a welcoming gateway to a world that orients and educates the visitors as they weave their way through the site, the building and the wider network of paths.
