Project Description

The Round House stands proudly as a testament to modern architectural design, nestled within a development of three properties in the picturesque town of Maldon, Essex. This newly constructed 4-bedroom residence exudes elegance and sophistication, showcasing innovative metal solutions throughout its exterior.

Metal Solutions Ltd, in collaboration with renowned architect Plater Claiborne and skilled installer Full Metal Jacket Ltd, meticulously crafted The Round House’s exterior using GreenCoat PLX metal panels. The Metallic Dark Silver finish seamlessly integrates with the surrounding landscape.

The 0.6 thickness of the metal panels ensures durability and longevity, offering protection against the elements while maintaining its aesthetic appeal. Utilising the standing seam method of installation further enhances the structural integrity and visual appeal of the exterior.

The ISO-Matt Pro underlay provides an additional layer of insulation, contributing to the energy efficiency of the property. Supported by a sturdy plywood substrate, the metal panels are securely anchored, ensuring a flawless finish that withstands the test of time.

The Requirements

The selected metal type, finish, and thickness should be able to resist corrosion, fading, and other forms of degradation over an extended lifespan, ensuring minimal maintenance requirements and long-term structural integrity.

To promote sustainability and reduce energy consumption, the materials used must contribute to the overall energy efficiency of The Round House. This entails incorporating high-quality insulation materials, such as ISO-Matt Pro underlay, to minimise heat loss and improve thermal performance. Additionally, the design and installation of the metal panels should optimise natural lighting and ventilation, reducing the reliance on artificial heating and cooling systems.

The selected metal finish should complement the design theme of the property and reflect the desired aesthetic preferences of the client, architect, and builder.

Challenges

Choosing the appropriate metal type, finish, and thickness required careful consideration to ensure compatibility with the architectural vision, environmental factors, and budget constraints.

    Results

The project received recognition in the form of the Best Project 35K Award, underscoring its exceptional design and execution. By utilising GreenCoat PLX Metallic Dark Silver, the exterior of The Round House seamlessly integrates with its surroundings while adding a touch of modernity to the traditional setting of Maldon, Essex.
